Craig Bracken is the frontman and vocalist for The Flaming Mudcats and their infectious brand of rhythm and blues. But the band creates its own genre by sprinkling the R&B with some cajun, old style rock, and swing. Bassman Pete Parnham adds the bottom end with catchy bass lines, and veteran drummer Ian Thomson drives the beat in a way that only years of experience can bring. Colour and fireworks are added with guitarist Doug Bygrave’s Stratocaster guitars that seems to channels the spirits of the great bluesmen. Exciting and creative Keyboardist Liam Ryan, is across the big sounds of piano, Hammond organ, and is not above swamping things up with Clavinent.
This band has five albums available on streaming platforms, and will also have a their individually numbered collectors’ vinyl LP’s on sale. This record is only available directly from the band and celebrates The Flaming Mudcats 15 year anniversary, and, like the concert, is a showcase of original songs.
The concert opens with the extraordinary soulful Sarah Spicer, who also joins the Flaming Mudcats for the final few songs in their set. This proved a winning combination in a recent Bay of Plenty concert and that thunderous applause and dancing in the aisles is sure to be repeated at this concert.
